An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the governance team and the mental health team within Walsall Healthcare trust and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. The post requires a dynamic individual that is flexible, passionate and has a interest in governance. The post requires someone who has a wide range of skills and has the ability to support analysis of data and report writing. You will have high level analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and a strong understanding of clinical specialty management across several specialties at once. You will have experience of delivering programmes of work. The Post holder will be the principal link between the Mental Health service and the Assurance function within the Trust to help ensure a consistent and aligned approach. The post holder will work with the Head of Nursing for Mental Health to ensure that trust policies and processes are followed in relation to risk management within the Mental Health team / function across Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust (WHT) and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT). The post holder will support a positive culture towards proactive patient safety throughout the organisations. They will work closely with the Head of Nursing for Mental Health and wider mental health team, corporate teams, divisional teams, and the assurance functions at WHT and RWT. The post holders will oversee and facilitate the investigation the review of patient safety events using appropriate methodology and associated tools when required ensuring that agreed timescales are met, where appropriate and requested. The post holders will actively promote and develop an open, just and fair culture where staff may be encouraged to report errors to improve the quality of care to patients. More than £50m has been invested in healthcare services across the hospital's estate which includes two new, state-of-the-art MRI scanners, the creation of a new 22 bedded Intensive Care Unit and a new Obstetric Theatre and expansion of the Neonatal Unit. Key Responsibilities1. Provide support for the Mental Health team with adherence to risk management and assurance standards. 2. Provide support and advice to relevant staff on matters relating to patient safety and risk management where appropriate and ensure the risks are updated on the risk register under the accountability the Mental Health team. 3. Provide support for risk management and assurance processes that meet local and national standards and that are aligned to the Trust processes and standards. 4. Provide clinical challenge and advice to divisional teams on how to populate and review risks in relation to mental health. 5. Where required, develop, and maintain relevant policies, systems and databases that support risk management in line with the assurance structures and processes which relate to mental health. 6. Contribute to adherence of standards where appropriate (e.g., safeguarding standards regulations) and preparation for internal and external assessment (e.g. CQC inspections. 7. To share professional knowledge to assist the lead nurse for mental health with underpinning additional specialist areas, supporting and maintaining quality of care within the service.
